Oops, I may have stayed out til bar time dancing to Martin Solveig's improbable DJ set at what passes for a club in A2.  I say 'improbable' because this is literally the second time I've gone to a show since moving here more than two years ago - and the artist is a world-class DJ making his only non big city stop?

Now if only my ears would stop ringing and the hangover would go away.

Does anyone else think it's kind of weird that Green Day is still wildly popular with "the kids"? I remember listening to Green Day in the van on the way to volleyball games when I was 15. 15 years later, it doesn't seem like Billie Joe's birthday should be a trending topic on Flickr - or that they should be playing a big NYE bash.

But then maybe I shouldn't be questioning this, considering that my most heavily listened album from the last 12 months was released the year I was born - except that there's no chance that Green Day and Talking Heads are on the same level in this or any other world.

I am really into this album. I wouldn't say it's the best thing so far this year or anything - but it is striking and awesome and you should go obtain in through whatever means you have available to you. That is, if you like good things and also violin hip-hop instrumentation.

So tonight I danced my ass off at MIA's last show ever, or so she says.
You know who I never need to see again live? Cat Power.

After two sleep-inducing festival performances, I'm calling it quits.

What's your cell phone's ringtone? What made you pick it?

My default ringtone is New Order's "Blue Monday", because I have this sick addiction to New Order and they didn't have "True Faith".  For SB, I have "Doncha", which was on every weekend when we would go dancing before we started dating.  For my BFF Paul, I have Bloc Party's "This Modern Love", which is "our" song if there ever was one.  For my dear friend Karin who celebrated her birthday yesterday, I have Boston's "More Than a Feeling", which we played at the diner last winter the night before everyone left for Christmas.

Mainly, though, my phone is on silent and/or vibrate because I'm in the office and then forget to turn my phone off when I get home.  There is an unofficial office policy requiring 80s ringtones - my boss has Duran Duran's "Rio", so sometimes we have an impromptu 80s dance party.  Well, we would, if my boss weren't 8 months pregnant.
