Dec. 31st, 2008 12:57 pmSo much for five days of relaxing at home after our vacation - our new neighbor is getting bamboo flooring installed! Instead of the exquisitely quiet building we've come to know and love, there's constant pounding and sawing and stapling so loud that it sounds like it's happening in our living room.
So here's the catch - the condo association rules & regs are very specific about what you can do with your flooring. To wit, 80% of your floor space must be covered by padding and carpeting to reduce noise. So unless our new neighbor is only installing bamboo flooring on 20% of her floor space, she's breaking the rules (and annoying us and others in the process). So now what? Do we go next door and see what's up? Do we file a complaint with the condo association? I emailed the property manager earlier to just say, hey, is this allowed? I'm totally that jerk neighbor right now. I feel a little bad, but also like if they can do it, then why the hell can't we rip up our carpet as well! Bah.
